Shaghayegh Chris Rostampour (they/them) is the Policy and Communications Coordinator for the Physicists Coalition for Nuclear Threat Reduction at the Arms Control Association.
Shaghayegh holds a master's degree in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Granted by the Harvard Program on Negotiation, their thesis assesses 'Desecuritization' as a Tool for Conflict Management by looking at the case of Iran's Nuclear Negotiations.
Shaghayegh has previously worked with Massachusetts Peace Action, assisting the Nuclear Disarmament Working Group in drafting and promoting bills focused on reducing the threat of nuclear weapons. They are particularly passionate about getting legal and political support for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) through community organizing and online activism. During their volunteer work for Tehran Peace Museum, Chris worked on raising awareness about the danger of Weapons of Mass Destruction alongside survivors of chemical attacks on Iran.
Born and raised in Iran, Shaghayegh has a master's in World Studies from the University of Tehran and a BA in English Language and Literature.
