ACA delivers a lot on a modest budget, we make every individual donation count toward the bottom line: building support and action for a safer world. That is why the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation recognized the Arms Control Association as one of the most "creative and effective" nonprofit organizations in the world.
With a staff under 10 and an annual budget under $1 million, over the past two years ACA has:
- Published 67 feature articles by top experts, 8 newsmaker interviews, and 272 news reports in 20 issues of the "go-to" journal in the field, Arms Control Today.
- Briefed 100s of journalists and editors and been cited more than 1000 times in news articles on topics ranging from Iran's nuclear program, to New START, to cluster munitions negotiations.
- Written dozens of newspaper oped and journal articles on a wide variety of issues, including options for deeper nuclear arms reductions, the value of the Test Ban Treaty, and curbing the global arms trafficking.
- Produced more than 65 rapid-reaction Issue Briefs on hot-button topics and more than 160 posts on ACA's blog www.ArmsControlNow.org.
- Produced 6 major staff reports on nuclear reductions, the nuclear test ban, nuclear security, and nonproliferation.
- Launched a series of 6 public and Congressional briefings on the "Solving the Iranian Nuclear Puzzle."
- Organized or cosponsored 30 high-level briefings in Ankara, Berlin, Brussels, Geneva, The Hague, New York, Ottawa, Warsaw, and Washington.
