Shaghayegh Chris Rostampour (they/them) is a passionate advocate and the Policy and Communications Manager for the Physicists Coalition for Nuclear Threat Reduction at the Arms Control Association. Since joining the Coalition in 2022, Shaghayegh has worked to bridge the gap between scientific expertise and political action, empowering physicists to engage in advocacy aimed at reducing nuclear dangers.

They hold a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence from Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management, where their scrutinized Iran’s nuclear negotiations. Shaghayegh also holds a second master’s in World Studies from the University of Tehran, grounding their advocacy in a global and deeply personal perspective.

With experience at Massachusetts Peace Action, Shaghayegh helped shape and champion nuclear disarmament bills. Their work centers on mobilizing public and political support for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) through strategic community organizing, digital campaigns, and coalition building. Originally from Iran, Shaghayegh has long worked to elevate the voices of those impacted by war and weapons of mass destruction. Rooted in lived experience and driven by a commitment to justice, Shaghayegh’s advocacy blends policy expertise with people power to advance a safer, demilitarized future.
